The Foundation Board met on July 12, 2026. The board reviewed the memorandum of understanding received from Adam Bierstedt, MoDA’s Curator of Danish American Culture confirming the first ever exhibition of Else Madsen’s paintings outside Denmark from July to October, 2027.
A site visit to MoDA’s museum in Elk Horn, Iowa has been scheduled for September 11, 2026. The Foundation’s delegation will include Cid Galindo, Kim Galindo, Kirsten Madsen Moss, and Joe Arredondo. The visit will serve as an opportunity to get familiar with the facility and establish the general parameters for the exhibition, including organization of themes, preliminary selection of works, and use of artifacts including, but not limited to letters, photographs, and travel slides. The use of digital media and exhibition images rotating on one or more screens will be considered to complement the three proposed concurrent exhibition themes: A Life in Art; The Global Traveler; and The Danish-American Connection.
Bjørn Madsen also reported that the collection of Else’s artworks in Denmark had been successfully transferred to a new climate-controlled storage facility, and that Sten Madsen would complete the transfer of Else’s travel slides collection and other artefacts to the new facility before the end of July.
